Nypd Blue (Season 2) DVD Review

Recipient of 13 Golden Globe and 84 Emmy nominations, including five for Best TV Series (Drama), NYPD Blue is widely regarded as one of the best prime time dramatic series in TV history. The show is also one of the most controversial as well. Before its initial release in Fall 1993, NYPD Blue became the subject of a nationwide controversy stemming from its use of foul language and improper visual scenes. The series prompted a national debate on what constitutes proper TV programming and whether or not government censorship should be involved. All this happened before the first episode ever aired! “Family values” interest groups attacked ABC for releasing the show, but when NYPD Blue proved itself to be mild by today’s standards, the publicity only helped to propel the police drama series to the apex of the Nielsen ratings, where it remained for twelve seasons…
