Check if Blues Chicago is still in business (it’s been a while since I’ve partied in Chi Town). Just off Michigan Ave & near Rush St.
You can always ask a cab driver. Just be sure he understands English & doesn’t take you to a gay bar (it happened).
My 2 favorite are:
Buddy Guy’s Legends
754 S Wabash Ave,
&
House of Blues
329 N Dearborn St, Chicago
Kingston Mines. It has been around a long time.

In downtown Chicago you’re looking at
Blue Chicago at 736 & 536 N Clark: http://www.bluechicago.com/
***2 blocks from each other, and you get access to both clubs with the cover.
Buddy Guys’ at 754 S Wabash: http://buddyguys.com/
House of Blues is okay, but only has a real live blues band about 50% of the time, so you can kind of ignore that place.
If you want to go into a neighborhood close to downtown, Lincoln Park has a cluster of Blues Bars around 2548 N Halsted: http://kingstonmines.com/flash/main.html
For a REAL Blues Bar you’re going to want to hit:
Lee’s Unleaded (so real they don’t have a web site): http://www.centerstagechicago.com/music/clubs/lees-unleaded.html
Rosa’s: http://www.rosaslounge.com/
Checkerboard Lounge: http://www.centerstagechicago.com/music/clubs/checkerboard-lounge.html

I’ll be 100% honest with you…
Since most people from out of town or from the North Side of Chicago are completely terrified of heading to the South Side, if you’re going authentic, go to Rosa’s.
Otherwise hit Halsted.
