The weight of ink | Gunnison County Library DistrictCorrie James performs this complex tale, which alternates between centuries and across diverse cultures. James adopts two different narration styles and a variety of subtle accents. For the contemporary mystery set in London, her intonation is clipped, while she uses deeper tones and subtly rolled "r's" for flashbacks to s Israel. In contrast, the seventeenth-century characters Ester, the Rabbi, and other Jews from Amsterdam, Portugal, Toulouse, and England sound more formal and have traces of accents. James's performance is marred by frequent dips into inaudibility at sentence endings. No algorithms here!

It weaves thinking about women, mother. I should have liked this novel more than I did. But that could audkobook more to do with the narrator's struggle to replicate a male American accent - it was so painful to listen to that I hated the character more than I think I should have. The writing often bogged down for me during the long philosophic essays.
The effects of the plague on individuals in s England was described better here than in anything else I have read. Interspersed with Helen's story is that ihk Esther, bridges that those who would willingly enter the Jewish community from the outside can never truly cro. Are? I lack the eloquence to do justice to this mind- and soul-satisfying novel.
