This homemade natural laundry detergent powder is really effective and much kinder to the water ways. For many years I have used baking soda, vinegar, lavender oil, and tea tree oil to do my washing. But, when I came across this recipe I decided to give it a go, and I love it! This mixture is so easy to make, and your clothes will look and feel fantastic. I also like to add in some drops of lavender, rosemary, or tea tree essential oil to my wash before I put the machine on for the extra disinfecting power, and also to make my clothes and linens smell fabulous.

All the articles I have read about borax have conflated borax with boric acid. What did you do. I have to wash laundry once a month in detergent to get them clean, and a lot of dirt comes out. Is that what you mean.

For some reason any powder is an issue for us. Those wonderful homemade soaps they sell online are often colored with things like turmeric. Thanks for sharing these things. The high alkalinity of borax is likely what causes skin irritation just as excessive use of baking soda would cause irritation.

This sounds amazing all but the icicle an. So maybe this is a better option. It also changes the pH of the water making it more alkaline. The liquid laundry detergent that bears her name is our overall favorite, because it cleans 96 percent as well as regular Tide.

  1. Yes, I use it with my cloth dipes. It's 30 percent cheaper, costing between cents per load. I use the Fe ls-naptha soap. Is it because there is no borax.🤹‍♂️

  2. It has little byproduct value because so much is extracted from biodiesel product streams. Did I do anything wrong! The least toxic detergents for greywater usage in a food garden are Soap Nuts or plain castile soap. You can find it here 3.
