Which, now that we think about it, is probably more tonally accurate. They were also supposed to be fun entertainment for their subjects. Where other filmmakers think too much about creating profound art or speaking truth to power, writer and director Brian Helgeland clearly just wanted to have fun and wanted the same for his audience.

The story revolves around Eli, a nomad in a post-apocalyptic world, who is told by a voice to deliver his copy of a mysterious book to a safe location on the West Coast of the United States. The history of the post-war world is explained along the way, as is the importance of Eli's task. Filming began in February and took place in New Mexico.

I don't watch enough movies or know Rotten Tomatoes well enough to participate in this particular challenge, but it seems like every time I enjoy a video game, it turns out to have a sizeable and vocal hatedom. I seriously can't relate to the caption here.
The Book of Eli unfortunately is deadly serious, but never mean-spirited or destructive ones. It makes jokes at the expense of action movies, and not in a good way. Ended up being pretty disappointed. Rose Pacatte.
