epidemiology for public health practice fifth edition

We welcome the fifth edition of the Oxford Textbook of Public Health , first published 28 years ago, which now represents an obligatory reference for all professionals who work in, teach, and practice public health around the world. Today, there are many excellent textbooks dealing with aspects of public health; however, their approaches still focus strictly on either methodological issues or practice, and they often have a local perspective, as well. Some texts focus on important thematic issues such as human rights or global health, but not by taking the comprehensive view of the Oxford Textbook. This breadth reflects the broad coverage of the book's chapters and the participation of authors representing 66 universities from 5 continents. Consequently, these well-selected authors offer very good coverage of methods appropriate for public health practice and global perspectives on public health that also blends with enriching local examples.
